Easy Baby Foods (Non-Recipes)

Easy Baby Foods (Non-Recipes)

So, your baby is ready to start eating first foods?  Why not introduce your little one to his first foods by whipping up one of these simple recipes?

With my first kid, I was gifted a baby food maker that I absolutely love and still use to this day (affiliate link coming soon), but what if you don’t have a baby food maker?  You’re in luck!  Each of these simple “recipes,” if you can even call them that, requires nothing more than a fork or spoon to mash and mix.  Easy peasy, and your baby will love them!

1. Cado Sauce

You need:

  • half of a ripe avocado
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened apple sauce

Directions: Scoop the avocado into a serving bowl and mash it into a purée with a fork.  Spoon the apple sauce over the avocado and stir until well-blended.  Serve immediately.  Note:  if you have leftovers, keep in mind that the avocado will turn brown the longer you leave it in the refrigerator.  You might want to just make a fresh batch of Cado Sauce each time.

2. Nanacado

You need:
  • half of a ripe banana, sliced
  • half of a ripe avocado

Directions: Scoop the avocado into a serving bowl and mash it into a purée with a fork.  Add the banana in slices and mash it with a fork as well.  Stir the avocado and mashed banana together until smooth and well-blended.  Serve immediately.

3. Tropical Banana Treat

You need:
  • half of a ripe banana, sliced
  • 1 Tbsp coconut milk (not sweetened coconut cream- BIG difference!)
  • pinch of cinnamon

Directions: Put the banana slices in your serving bowl.  Mash with a fork until creamy.  Add the coconut milk and a tiny pinch of cinnamon and stir to combine.

Note: I love this recipe for introducing your wee one’s palate to the wonderful flavor of spices.  However, be careful that you don’t put too much cinnamon into the recipe.  You need only a smidge.  Otherwise, your baby might make that adorable grimace and refuse to consume your scrumptious creation (not that I would know😉).
